The runaway jury_Jhon Grisham_200303 Bin's birthday

About 15 years ago I bought this book to improve reading English ability. But it was a dream. I've seen the book not reading for 15 years on the desk. 2 years ago I tried to read it again, but failed. Now I retry to read it again. There are lots of difficult words for me not to know. A lot of texts. But I will. This is the first interesting text.

"To her left, rows one through twelve held 144 prospective jurors, and to her right, rows thirteen through sixteen held the remaining 50." (p. 26)

Unhappily I read just only few pages last 2days. It was sufficient time to read it if it was written by Korean. Is it useful to read it in English? Reading English itself is cheerful. That's enough.

"The idea of calling her had not crossed his mind, but the question of which side she worked for was quite intriguing." (p.42)

They strewed the earth with seeds. the rubbish-strewn streets. strew rumors among people.

strew rumors among people. They strewed the earth with seeds. the rubbish-strewn streets.

the rubbish-strewn streets. strew rumors among people. They strewed the earth with seeds.

"Fitch was happy, or as happy as he could allowed himself, though that didn't stop his bitching and snarling about everything." (p. 64)

For 42 years, I've not known 'son of a bitch'. I've been sure a insult is 'son of beach'. sonofabitch. Not bad. I really want to acquire new knowledges but a insult while studying language. If I don't take special concerns, I can't.

"The defense suffered a collective chest pain. Then they breathed, slowly, but never allowing the slightest indication that they had anything but the greatest love and affection for the blind juror who was now the foreman." (p. 66)

I didn't catch the exact meaning of some texts but I understood the flow of this story. That's enough. And I am enjoying the special texts like this. I am loath to stop reading but I can't help but going to the hospital with my mother.

"In response to the story, Pynex's stock dipped a dollar at the opening bell, but by noon had found itself sufficiently corrected and adjusted and was deemed to be weathering the brief storm." (p. 146)

Because of the strong wind like a little tornado there are comfortable time to read this book again. on the way home after buying masks, I saw two old farmers weathering to make the field. It is better to see them working than to be seen me working. Anyway, let me read.

"The hellos and howdies were muffled Monday morning. The routine of gathering by the coffeepot and inspecting the doughnuts and rolls was growing tiresome, not so much from repetition but more from the burdensome mystery of not knowing how long this all might drag on." (p. 172)

In one page, I've found around ten unknown words. So I decided to change the way of memorizing. I adopted the hippocampus memory way like this. My son recomended the merriam webster's word of the day. I hope two types of english word memory would esculate my word power.
