Hi, Kate!

K : Hi Insung,
M : Hi Kate,

K : Greetings from Greece, a country on the verge of an economic meltdown! Yikes!
M : Greetings from Korea, a country on the economic and political difficulty because ot MERS and the president's anger! Hmm!

K : I'm in Santorini (SO GORGEOUS!) and despite what the news is telling you, it's not pandemonium here. While many Greek ATMs are out of cash, ATMs in touristy areas like Santorini are stocked with cash. There's no limit on how much foreigners can withdraw; Greek accounts are limited to 60 euros per day. Nobody is panicking; there is no chaos. If you're planning a trip to Greece, please don't worry. I wrote a more detailed description of what's going on here on Facebook.
M : I'm in Gugeri(SO PEACEFUL), a small village near Seoul, and despite what the news is telling you, it's not pandemonium here. While a few Korean hospitals are closed, most of them without the closed hospitals in Korea are crowded with people. And while she and the rulling party are in pandemonium other parties and all the cities overcome MERS and ignore her anger. If you're planning a trip to Korea, please don't worry. I'll write a more detailed description in Korean on my blog.

K : Long story short? The media loves to exaggerate crises abroad. Rather than taking them at face value, do independent research of your own and talk to people who are actually there. I've been to Bangkok during the protests of 2010 and 2013, I've flown into Mexico during the height of swine flu in 2009, and now I'm in Greece during the worst part of their economic crisis yet. And for a tourist, it's been completely safe and normal in each of those places.

K : Greece is built on tourism. Please don't forget about the guesthouse owners, the cafe owners, the tour guides, and the taxi drivers who will suffer financially if people stop traveling here. They need us.
M : Korea is on the verge of building the tourism. Please don't forget about the guesthouse owners, the cafe owners, the tour guides, and the kind diplomatic Koreans who will suffer financially and politically if people stop traveling here. We need you.
