오전에는 어머니를 모시고 병원에 다녀온다는 핑계로 페북에서 놀았다. 역시 페북은 중독성이 강하다. 아무래도 오전에 한 번, 저녁에 한 번으로 사용 규정을 마련해야겠다. 어머니가 계속해서 밥을 많이 주시니 배가 그득해서 힘들다. 한참을 소파에 기대어 뒹굴거리다가 4시가 다 되어 나갔다.

부직포와 비닐 걷기를 어머니의 도움으로 쉽게 끝내는 바람에 오늘은 밭의 배수로를 원상 복귀하려고 했다. 생각을 해 보니 이랑을 만들고 난 다음에 배수로를 내도 늦지 않겠다. 배수로에 걸려서 작업이 위험할 수도 있기 때문이다. 가지치기로 작업을 바꾸기로 했다.

마당에 널려져 있던 나뭇가지들을 2주 만에 치운다. 지난번 가원의 날에 정원에 정리해 놓은 것들을 아직도 방치해 두어 차에도 걸리고 밭에도 걸린다. 아궁이 옆으로 전부 옮겨 놓았다. 산수유가 노랗게 올라왔다. 꽃망울이 터지지는 않았다. 매화도 아주 작게 꽃망울이 열렸고, 개복숭아도 그렇다.

쥐똥나무 너머에 자라고 있는 개뽕나무도 잘라줘야 한다. 환삼덩굴이 정신없이 엉켜서 좁은 배수로를 위협한다. 쉽지 않다고 생각은 했지만 몸살이 나도록 톱질을 하고 전지가위를 놀려야 했다. 얇은 가지들은 탄성이 있어서 얼굴을 때리고, 두꺼운 가지들은 뱃살을 찌른다. 톱질에 가위질에 거칠게 다가가니 나무들도 거칠게 맞선다. 세상 이치가 그런 줄 알면서도 좀 더 부드럽지 못한 내가 못내 아쉽다.

세차를 하고 방에 들어가 누웠다. 두 시간 반 정도 톱질과 가위질을 했더니 몸살이 난다. 20분 정도 쉰 다음에 저녁을 먹고 부천으로 올라왔다. 길이 밀리지 않아서 90분 만에 왔다.
